Legal situation
By an amendment of the Icelandic Copyright Act in June 1992, the extended licence agreement system was introduced into Icelandic Copyright Law, cf. article 15 a. According to this article the Minister of Culture and Education may issue regulations to let the article also apply to the use of published works in data bases (electronic copying).
According to the Fjölís Articles of Association, amended in November 1996 and later adopted by the Ministry of Education, each member association may give Fjölís authority to license electronic copying, i.e. the use of printed works in data bases.
Actual licensing
Fjölís has so far not been empowered by Icelandic rightsholders to license electronic copying.
